How to use
your BCA National Specialty site: |
|
1. This page
contains the main menu for all events at the BCA National
Specialty. If you can't see the menu, simply scroll further
down on this page. |
| |
a. Please check
the STATUS button at the top of
any BCA gallery to see what images are currently available.
This contains a day-to-day update of recent uploaded images. |
| |
b. Please use
the ORDER FORM button at the top
of any BCA gallery to get pricing information as well as place
orders by FAX, email, or phone. |
| |
|
2. Each main
event has or will have a link to its associated gallery.
|
| |
a. Galleries
that are ready for viewing will have colorized, underscored text for
the link, either teal or green. |
| |
b. Galleries
that are not ready for viewing will have white text, and will
not yet have an active link (i.e. clicking on white text will not
work). |
| |
c. As we upload
new galleries, we will update the menu link and change its text from
white to colorized. |
| |
d.
A "parent" link (e.g. "MONDAY" or "Agility") will
remain white until all "child" galleries and links are available. |
| |
e.
Important! Be sure to refresh
your browser (in Internet Explorer, hit the F5 button) when you
visit to ensure you see the most current version of the BCA home
page. |
| |
|
3. When viewing
an event gallery, the main page will show you very small version of
the contents known as "thumbnails" or simply "thumbs". |
| |
a. Clicking on
a thumb will take you to the full-size version. |
| |
b. Clicking on
the full-size version will take you back to the thumbs page. |
| |
c. In many
cases, there are multiple pages of thumbnails (there are 32 thumbs
per page), you will see this referenced on the thumbs' page, and can
click to get to each of these. |
| |
d. The
full-size versions of the images are watermarked to prevent illegal
copying. This watermark is not part of the actual prints that
are ordered. |
| |
|
4. Images are
named to indicate what day/image number they represent. The
2nd Saturday has the text, "Brd" in the image name to help
distinguish from the 1st Saturday of the Specialty (with all-breed
herding trials) |
| |
a. Example:
"Mon_0002" translates to Monday, image #0002. |
| |
b. For Award
photos, the images are themselves titled so as to identify what the
Award is: example: "SatBrd_BOB_0042" means Saturday, Award Best of
Breed, image 0042. |
| |
c.
Important! When placing your
order, please include the entire image number so we know
exactly which photo
you are referring to. |
| |
|
5. There is no
need to "sign in" or use a password; the default "Guest" account
allows you full access to all the images in the BCA and all other
public galleries. (Passwords are only required for private
galleries; i.e. family portraiture, etc.). |
|
|
|
6.
NOTE: All signage for award photos
will be put in place when you place your order (i.e. ignore the
temporary white board seen in the photo!) |
|
|
|
7. If you can't
find your photos, or if you are having trouble navigating this site,
please
email us. It will be very helpful if you tell us what
page(s) are causing you difficulty, and what your browser is, and if
you are on a PC or Mac. |
| |
|
8. Using the "Favorites"
feature needs a bit of explanation. |
| |
a. This allows
you to create a list of photos you like so that you can review them
as a collection. |
| |
b. It does not
provide any kind of online ordering; the most it can do is to email
the list of photo names in the collection, but without any other
particularly helpful info. It won't allow you to create an
order form unfortunately. |
| |
c. The
information in "Favorites" is stored as a cookie (a very small
temporary file) on your machine. Cookies are used by browsers
all the time, and can easily be deleted without you realizing this.
If you have created a large list of Favorites photos, we recommend
that you email that to yourself regularly. Typically, the
cookies are set to expire every 10 calendar days or so, so this list
should be considered temporary at best. |
| |
d. A Favorites
list is specific to the computer it was created on. Favorites
on your work computer will not be the same as Favorites on your home
computer. |
| |
e. If I had the
time, I'd rewrite how the Favorites feature works, so that it's far
more useful. If I had the time... |
| |
|
9. We realize
there's a tremendous amount of information we're presenting that
represents the entire National; our estimate is that we'll have
approximately 1,000 to 1,500 images for your viewing (when including
images from the all-breed herding trials). Our goal
is to make this easy for you to quickly get to the areas you are
particularly interested in. We sincerely hope this will help
you easily find your images. |
